Our focus in the fall is yard cleaning. We rake, mow, weed whack, and haul yard debris — for neighbors who need a hand and corners of town that need a scrub. Bring what tools you can; we'll have more to share. Did we mention free lunch for volunteers?
Fall focus: yardwork only — no appliance, tire, or bulky item removals this round. Leaves, branches, and the tidy-up before winter arrives.
Show up September 19 with gloves and a good attitude. We'll feed you, point you somewhere useful, and send you home tired in a satisfying way. Sign up at City Hall or via our Google Form.
Plains residents can request a work project — the fall cleanup is yardwork only (leaves, branches, weeds). Appliances, tires, and bulky items come back around in spring. Call (406) 826-3411, stop by City Hall, or use the request form.
Plains shows up for Plains. The businesses and neighbors below cover trucks, dumpsters, lunches, and the thousand little things that make cleanup day possible.

Our town is special — not because of manicured lawns or perfectly trimmed trees, but because of the relationships forged in hard work and a willingness to share the load.
Our volunteers become neighbors and friends to those who just can't do the work anymore, don't have anyone to help, don't have the equipment, or are so busy elsewhere they just don't get around to it — but know it needs to get done. We help. We ask only for your continued support, and to become a neighbor volunteer yourself if you're able.
So many things we can't affect a change in. But we can change the height of the grass, whack down the weeds, haul off the trash, and love one another while we work. Many hands make light work — and our town is a prettier, tidier, lovelier place to live because of your volunteered time.

Cleanup days are a great fit for high-school volunteer hours, resumes, college applications, and court-mandated community service. With parental permission and supervision, they're also a positive energy burn for active kids and a way for families to connect while serving together.
Do you know what it does for a child's self-esteem to be praised for their hard work by a non-relative community member? Take the pressure off and let your family come work and play outside while serving others. Confidence grows. Self-esteem repairs. A sense of belonging is established.
Note: All children must be supervised by a parent, and waivers must be signed to participate. Waivers are available at City Hall or on our sign-up form.
